What white-label rights allow
2 min read
White-label rights allow the holder of an applicable DotwebApps license to apply their own permitted branding and identity to the software where the purchased product and license allow it.
What white-labeling can include #
Depending on the product, permitted white-label changes may include customer-facing elements such as:
- product name, where permitted
- logo
- colors
- visual branding
- other approved identity elements
The exact branding and customization options vary by product. A white-label license does not mean that every part of every product can be changed.
White-label rights are different from reseller rights #
White-label rights concern how the software may be branded or presented. They do not automatically grant permission to resell the software unless the purchased license also includes reseller rights.
For DotwebApps standard licensing, the Non-Transferable Resell Rights + White-Label tier includes both permitted white-labeling and resale rights. Other license tiers should not be treated as reseller licenses merely because they allow some customization or branding for permitted use.
Ownership and intellectual property do not transfer #
Applying your own branding does not transfer ownership of the underlying DotwebApps intellectual property and does not make the license holder the author or copyright owner of that underlying software.
White-label rights also do not create unrestricted rights over third-party components that may be included in a product. Any such components remain subject to their applicable licenses.
Activation limits and product restrictions still apply #
White-labeling does not increase the number of permitted production installations. The applicable activation limit remains determined by the purchased license tier.
For the standard Resell Rights + White-Label tier, the current production activation limit is 25 production activations.
Product-specific restrictions still apply. Customers should rely on the terms for the particular product and license they purchased rather than assuming that white-label rights provide unlimited modification, unlimited activation, or automatic resale permission.
