How to activate software

2 min read

Software activation links a DotwebApps installation to the license purchased for that product. The exact screens, fields, and wording can differ between products, so always follow the product-specific documentation where available.

General activation process #

The usual activation flow is:

  1. Purchase the applicable DotwebApps software and license.
  2. Obtain the license information associated with your purchase and DotwebApps account.
  3. Install the software according to that product’s documentation.
  4. Open the product’s licensing or activation area.
  5. Enter or provide the license information requested by that product.
  6. Activate the installation.
  7. Confirm that the product reports a successful activation.

The license information used for activation must correspond to the DotwebApps product and license you purchased.

Production activation limits #

Production activations count against the finite activation limit of the applicable license tier. The current standard production limits are:

  • Single Site Personal / Business: 1 production activation
  • Multi-Site Commercial: 5 production activations
  • Non-Transferable Resell Rights + White-Label: 25 production activations

Local, staging, or test installations may be treated differently where the approved DotwebApps licensing configuration permits it.

Do not share your license key or other license credentials publicly.

If activation does not succeed #

Check the following before contacting support:

  • confirm that you are using the correct license information
  • confirm that the license belongs to the DotwebApps product you are activating
  • check internet or server connectivity if that product requires connectivity for activation
  • confirm that the applicable production activation limit has not already been reached
  • confirm that the domain or environment is the installation you intend to activate
  • follow any product-specific activation guidance provided with the software

If the issue remains unresolved, contact DotwebApps support with the relevant product and purchase/license information needed to investigate the problem. Do not send passwords, private keys, API secrets, or unrelated credentials.

Activation procedures vary by product, so DotwebApps documentation does not assume a universal button name, menu path, or internal activation sequence.
